Confluent provides group Life/TPD and Income Protection insurance coverage, through Met Life, at no cost to you. These benefits help financially protect you and your family in the event of your injury or death. Coverage begins on your start date and gets renewed annually on April 1st.
This benefit provides a lump sum payment in the event that you die or become totally and permanently disabled. The benefit is equal to 3 times your annual base salary, subject to an Automatic Acceptance Limit (AAL) of $750,000 (which is the amount of cover MetLife will offer without asking for medical evidence*). All eligible employees are automatically enrolled in this benefit up to the AAL from date of hire.
Employees with a base salary over $250,000 will need to undergo medical underwriting to the satisfaction of MetLife in order to be provided coverage over the AAL. Employees eligible for additional cover above the AAL can apply for any level of benefit above the AAL by contacting Mercer Marsh Benefits via email at clientoperations@mercermarshbenefits.com
The process will require a personal statement to be completed with medical and lifestyle questions, as well as medical/blood tests which is standard practice across the industry. Approval for cover above the AAL is subject to the underwriter’s final decision and approval for cover above the AAL is not guaranteed. The Maximum Entry Age is 64 years, and the Maximum Insurable Age is 65 years.
Coverage ceases when you leave Confluent. For continuation options reach out to Mercer Marsh Benefits directly.
Income Protection provides a monthly benefit in the event that you are unable to work due to illness or injury. The benefit is equal to 75% of your pre-disability base salary, subject to an Automatic Acceptance Limit (AAL) of $11,000 per month. This monthly benefit is payable after 30 days while you remain disabled (for a period not extending past your 65th birthday). All eligible employees are automatically enrolled in this benefit up to the AAL from date of hire.
Employees with a base salary over $176,000 will need to undergo medical underwriting to the satisfaction of MetLife in order to be provided coverage over the AAL. Employees eligible for additional cover above the AAL can apply via an online application. Please reach out to Mercer if you’d like to apply.
